Seven Sundays WinesIt was late one Sunday night around an outdoor fire at 'Mountain Run', that Les Hill and two of his mates, cousins Brad and Dave Flowers, came up with the idea of Seven Sundays. The property 'Mountain Run', was established in 1890, the sprawling homestead was built in 2004, and has been the private getaway for the Flowers family and their friends since that time.

Les, Brad and Dave often escape the pace of Sydney, and head up to the farm. Local produce and Australian wine is always waiting at the end of the day, and it was after a meal and a few glasses of red wine that the boys started to throw around the idea of their own wine label.

With more than twenty years collective experience in the hospitality and liquor industries, the boys have a good idea of what people enjoy. The result is a range of hand crafted Hunter Valley wine that fits in with the idea of their friendship – easy going, reliable, relaxed and dependable. The debut collection from Seven Sundays includes a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, a Shiraz Cabernet and a Sparkling white, with a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc soon to follow.

2009 Seven Sundays Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

Tasting notes: This SBS is a pale yellow in tone, with a bouquet of limes, lemon zest and the sweeter and softer quality of orange blossom and kiwi fruit. The Semillon quantity gives zesty freshness, and the Sauvignon Blanc gives passion fruit and the varietal greenness of fresh grass. On the palate, this wine is lively with puckering and well balanced acidity and a soft minerality.

Drink by date: Drink now or cellar for 1-4 years.

Price: $14.95 (Incl. GST)

N/V Seven Sundays Sparkling Cuvee`

Tasting notes: A green hue to the golden straw colour hints at the fruit filled palate. The aroma of citrus fruits and sherbet is balanced by some subtle complex aged yeast characters. The palate is long, clean and crisp with a satisfying dry finish. This mid level residual sugar gives the wine a full mouthfeel and fruity notes.

Drink by date: 2012

Price: $16.90 (Incl. GST)

2007 Seven Sundays Shiraz Cabernet

Tasting notes: This 2007 Shiraz Cabernet is a dark, brick red colour, showing some bottle maturation. The nose has a keen plummy character, with is a hint of cedary oak. The tannins are drying on the centre of the palate, with smooth berry fruits sweeping to the sides of the mouth. This somewhat spicy and rustic wine finishes with a smooth and silky mouth feel.
