Brockenchack 'Zip Line' Shiraz

The zip line cable at our vineyard generates endless laughter for all generations of the family and much like this wine, it’s a smooth ride to the end. Our Zip Line Shiraz is made from our Eden Valley single vineyard Shiraz grapes, plucked from a combination of our older vines with an average vine age of 50 years, to give depth and complexity, and from our younger vines planted in 2008, to give fruit freshness and vibrancy.

Our 2020 Zip Line Shiraz shows off bright crimson hues that drift into deeper ruby tones. Our wine making style captures the distinctive Eden Valley richness and finesse of our Shiraz in both aroma and flavour. Brimming with a bouquet of raspberry, cherry, blackberry and vanilla, with a measure of the finest French oak settling superbly. On the palate you’ll find it dripping with mouth-watering fresh picked blackberry, mulberry and much anticipated black cherry. Classic Eden Valley white pepper spice invites textured, savoury tannins to continue effortlessly, offering an alluring grip and a very satisfying linear duration. Vibrant upon release, this wine will easily mature for 8 to 10 years to come.

2020 Vintage Summary:

Eden Valley’s 2020 vintage was an absolute cracker, producing some stand out wines for Brockenchack and delivering 5 gold and 5 silver medals across our range. With good soil moisture and cooler temperatures, the vines were very healthy vines at vintage time. A later harvest date meant the grapes ripened more slowly, enabling consistent fruit development and a gradual accumulation of sugars and flavours - exactly what winemakers are looking for, to produce these high quality wines.
